With that in mind we have developed several different music lessons (programmes) in order to allow children to be inspired in many different ways. Some may find the science of how sound is made energising, some might find the adventure of creating their own stories through music liberating, others might enjoy satisfying their curiosity to explore new cultures of the world because they were exposed to something different.
Each of our programmes covers the key elements of the music curriculum as well as further cross-curricular links. The children will see hear and some will play instruments and music from a wide variety of genres. All our programmes are designed to be an hour long, however, we are able to be flexible where necessary.
The table below details the different themed programmes we offer, and the associated Cross Curricular Links that each programme offers. Simply click the programme title for more details.

Our introductory program focussing on the building blocks of music. A great starting point for children who have not seen us before.

Reinforcing the key curricular elements we experience acoustic, electric, brass and woodwind sounds and how those different vibrations make our music

Tardis at the ready as we journey back in time and around the world to explore the effects of time, style and culture upon our modern world of music

Cape's at the ready as we discover how music can make our heroes "super"! But beware of the dark side as villains lurk too. Blockbuster fun and great inspiration for creative writing projects.

Sea Shanties and Hornpipes Ahoy! All aboard the good ship Key Strings as we voyage the high seas in search of the music of explorers, buccaneers and scallywags

We're off to the Violin Farm to see how musical instruments take part in the circle of life. Animals to instruments to music that describes the Animals again.

Take a musical trip around the art gallery as we weave our way through the changes in style that are mirrored in both art and music. From Holbein to Picasso and gregorian chant to the Rolling Stones this picture is painted in stereo.

Imagine only using one source of music, it's easy if you try! The only performance we have that uses only one artist as the source for the music. Still we manage to get from skiffle to Sitars on our musical yellow submarine.

Our Proms style parade around the United Kingdom uses the music of the home nations to build the layers of the flag just as we build layers of sound in our music. No matter how different the sounds when they join together they can make great music.

From a horrible history comes an uplifting present and the roots of our modern "pop" styles. Sensitively told, we trace the movement of the people that made the history of black music.

Gung Hay Fat Choi!! Join us as we ring in the new year...lunar style. From Erhu to Dancing dragons there’s sure to be musical fireworks as we take a journey down the silk road to China.

It's CHRISSSTMAASSSS!
What better way to celebrate than with a Key Strings Christmas selebration. All the fun of the season, laced with all the elements of the curriculum.
We have listed the wider cross-curricular links for each program for ease of use, but in no way does this reflect more or less content between the programmes. All our themes pack in as much music and crosscurricular content as is possible in an hour and all are suitable for both KS1 and KS2.
